Contest for writers 

Can you imagine the contest  which can give $250 for writing bad opening line. 
A cheesy one like “ It was dark & stormy night” every horror story & movie start with this काली अँधेरी तूफानी रात थी . Indeed there is a contest The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest (BLFC) sponsored by the English Department of San Jose state university, California . 
Writers  are invited "to compose the bad opening sentence to the worst of all possible novels" . Means you want well written enjoyable bad cheesy line. Don’t get monotonous, because monotonous is not enjoyable. So, how the name came to this.  
But wait who is this Bulwer Lytton?????
 Do you remember the Phrase    “ Pen is mightier than swords” & even “ it was dark stormy night. 
All phrases belongs to Edward Bulwer-Lytton english novelist & poet  who wrote “Pelham” . Bulwer-Lytton reached the height of his popularity with the publication of Godolphin (1833). This was followed byThe Pilgrims of the Rhine (1834).
